Surface softened bar steel
This is a steel material that softens only the surface of the full cross-section high-strength (quenching) while significantly improving the delayed fracture characteristics (hydrogen embrittlement resistance) despite being a high-strength steel.
This is a steel rod that has been softened to below 1200 MPa in the surface layer, which is the starting point for delayed fracture, in relation to high-strength steel materials (tensile strength reference: 1200–2200 MPa), thereby reducing the risk of delayed fracture (patent obtained). By applying this technology, the delayed fracture characteristics (hydrogen embrittlement resistance) of high-strength steel materials and high-stress components can be significantly improved, and the softening of the surface layer enhances machinability, making machining easier. It has been mass-produced for high-stress spring steel wire, high-strength deformed PC steel rods, etc.
